Bryan Colangelo joined the Toronto Raptors as its president and general manager, ready to leave his imprint on a new team after splitting with a club that didn't offer him a contract extension.

As the Raptors gathered for the first time this season, general manager Rob Babcock trumpeted the news Rafer Alston, who just over a year ago was being hailed as Toronto's point guard of the future, had been dealt to the Houston Rockets for guard Mike James.
