from wire reports

SAN ANTONIO - The San Antonio Silver Stars of the WNBA announced their roster for the 2003 season. At the same time the Silver Stars waived Danielle Crockrom to reach the 11-player roster limit. San Antonio's roster includes six returning players from the 2002 Utah Starzz team that advanced to the Western Conference Finals and five new faces.

Adrienne Goodson, Marie Ferdinand, Margo Dydek, Jennifer Azzi, LaTonya Johnson and Semeka Randall have all returned for the Silver Stars inaugural season in San Antonio.

A 2002 All-Star, Goodson led the Starzz in scoring during the 2002 season, averaging 15.7 points, 5.7 rebounds and 2.1 assists in 34.4 minutes while starting all 32 games. The Starzz's balanced offensive attack was also paced by Ferdinand, another 2002 All-Star, who also started all 32 games and averaged 15.3 points, 3.3 rebounds, 2.8 assists and 1.59 steals in 33.3 minutes. The two ranked 10th and 11th in the WNBA in scoring.

Azzi - a two-time All-American at Stanford and a member of the 1996 USA Olympic Team - made her WNBA debut in 1999 after starting her professional career overseas and in the ABL. For the 2002 season she started all 32 games and averaged 9.6 points, 4.9 assists and 2.2 rebounds in 36.0 minutes. In her four WNBA seasons Azzi has twice led the league in three-point field goal percentage and has a career mark of .480 from beyond the arc.

Randall joined the Silver Stars near the end of the 2002 season when Utah acquired her from Seattle in exchange for Kate Starbird. A strong defensive player, Randall will bring her leadership, quickness and intensity every game.

Newcomers to the Silver Stars this year include Sylvia Crawley, Gwen Jackson, LaQuanda Quick, Tausha Mills and Tai Dillard.

Crawley and Jackson were both obtained by the Silver Stars in trade with Indiana that sent Natalie Williams and Coretta Brown to the Fever. During her three years with the Fire she appeared in 95 games averaging 9.8 points, 5.5 rebounds and 1.4 assists in 28.1 minutes per game.
